Born in Falls City NE in 1952, Terry was the youngest of six children born to Raymond and Louise Campbell.  His dad was 5/8 Iowa Indian.  By the time Terry was born his three oldest brothers had already left home, but he still had one brother and a sister at home.  Terry’s family moved to Waverly, NE when he was 5 yrs old.  It was there that he attended school for the next twelve years.  Terry’s parents were very religious and the family attended church regularly.  His brother, Bill, grew up to be a minister.  As a teen Terry sang with the Nebraska Impact Team, a gospel teen group.

Terry’s dad passed away when he was 16 and that’s when his life changed.  He started running, partying, drinking, taking drugs, and stopped going to church.  Mother could no longer handle him, so he did it his way.

At age 21, Terry started playing in a rock and roll band traveling all over the Midwest. Drinking and drugs took control of his life.  He went deeper and deeper in sin. The money was great, and he thought the world had every thing he was looking for.  Nice cars and diamond rings; Terry had it all.

1984 was the first time God tried to get his attention; he had a blood clot pass from his leg to his lung.  The doctor said Terry should have died.  He was in intensive care for four months, the hospital for an additional two months, and then the nursing home for a month.  At the age of 33, Terry had a trachea tube placed in his throat for three years; the doctors said that he may never sing again. So he moved back to the reservation in 1986 and tried to serve the Lord, but he just couldn’t stay away from the money and his old lifestyle.

In 1990 God tried to get Terry’s attention again.  The doctor told him “either lose weight or die.”  He weighted 618 pounds.  He decided to lose weight and lost 348 lbs.  In 1996 Terry began managing a lounge and restaurant, playing in the band again, and drinking.  He closed the lounge in 2001.

In 2004 Terry started working in the casino for his tribe.  He was promoted several times and ended up manager of the table games.  In 2007 he lost his job and his world was turned upside down again.  Why was everything going so wrong?  Terry had everything he wanted, but all of a sudden, it was gone.

Then he was offered a job at another casino, and was going to start, when God got his attention.  On June 10, Terry had a heart attack.  The casino said not to worry, that his job would be waiting.  While going through surgery Terry gave his heart back to the Lord.  He felt the Lord was calling him to sing gospel music, but he didn’t want to give up the good money he was making in the casino.

Terry prayed, asking God to let him know if He really wanted him to sing gospel music.  If He did, then He would close the door on the job at the casino.  When Terry started feeling better, he called the casino to see about the job and found out that the job was no longer available.  So Terry started praying and really opening his heart to Jesus and with help from good Christian friends, doors started opening for him.

His goal is to travel, give his testimony and sing for God wherever He may lead.
